Overview
Shafts for the heaviest duty
Vikrant Forge Pvt. Ltd. (est. 1985) makes forged and machined shafts at its integrated plant near Kolkata, India, for mining, aggregates, rail and material-handling OEMs. Each one is forged from steel melted at our sister mill, heat-treated in-house and finish-machined to Grade-6 tolerances with 10–20 µm geometrical accuracy.

How we make them
From melt to dispatch
- 01
Electric arc furnaceSister mill
Eccentric bottom tapping gives cleaner steel with less slag from the first melt.
- 02
Ladle refining
Chemistry and temperature are controlled before casting.
- 03
Vacuum degassing
The melt is held under 1 Torr vacuum to remove dissolved gases.
- 04
Bottom-poured ingots
An ingot casting car pours with little turbulence for clean steel.
- 05
Forging
Manipulator-handled billets are shaped into open-die forgings.
- 06
Heat treatment
Controlled furnace cycles set the grain structure and mechanical properties.
- 07
Finish machining
CNC machining to the drawing's final dimensions.
- 08
Quality assurance
Inspection at every stage, with CMM and our NABL-accredited lab.
- 09
Dispatch
Packed and shipped to customers in India and abroad.

FAQ
Buyers ask
What size shafts can Vikrant Forge make?
Shafts from Ø125 mm to Ø450 mm and 700 mm to 6,000 mm long, weighing 50 to 5,500 kg finished, machined to Grade-6 with a 0.8 µm surface finish and 10–20 µm geometrical accuracy.
Which steel grades do you use for shafts?
Most often 42CrMo4 / AISI 4140, EN24 (817M40), C45 / SAE 1045, 45C8, 55C8 and EN9. We also work to the grade given on your drawing.
Do you make crusher shafts?
Yes: eccentric shafts for jaw crushers, threaded main shafts and taper shafts for cone crushers, and threaded shafts for gyratory crushers.
Do you supply shafts for railways?
Yes. We make arbre shafts for railways and for traction motors.
What should I send for a quote?
Your drawing (PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP, JPG or PNG, up to 8 MB), the quantity and the steel grade. The quote form goes straight to our sales team at [email protected].
